With the temperatures dropping, our heating bills have been rising, and as a means of trying to offset our costs we need to aim to give more. One way we can do this is by having Masses offered for our friends and loved ones. Fr. Gerry says approximately 320 Masses a year. If we have two intentions for each Mass at $10 each, we could raise $6,400, which would help with expenses.
Many of our weekday Masses lack any intentions and are then said for deceased nuns. While this is good, we should be filling these Masses by having them said for our loved ones. We all have family members or friends who have entered into eternal life. What better way to remember them than to have a Mass said for them—be it their birthday, anniversary, or death. You can also have a Mass said for the health and well being of someone who may be having a difficult time. Wedding anniversary Masses are also popular. Or you can have a “thanksgiving” Mass for blessings received.
Call or stop by the parish office to make arrangements, or put your stipend into an envelope marked “Mass Intention – Attention Nancy” and drop it in the collection basket. Please write who the Mass is for; if they are deceased, for healthy or special intention; what date you would like the Mass said; who is requesting it; and your phone number (in case that date is already filled).
This would be a wonderful way to remember our loved ones and we could raise much-needed funds for our church to meet our bills. Thank you!
